BER ESTIMATION OF IEEE802.16 STANDARD FROM REAL MEASUREMENTS IN SEMI-RURAL ENVIRONMENT AT THREE FREQUENCIES IN THE 2-6 GHz BAND
نویسنده
چکیده
Simultaneous measurements with 10-MHz bandwidth at 2.5 GHz, 3.5 GHz and 5.8 GHz were performed in a rural/semi-rural environment in the UK. The data were processed to generate the time variant frequency transfer function, which was subsequently used in a WiMAX channel simulator designed and implemented in SIMULINK for the purposes of the study. Estimates of BER for the 256 carrier OFDM IEEE802.16 standard are presented for rate 1⁄2 for both QPSK and 16 QAM. The results demonstrate that the performance of quasi-stationary wireless broadband systems depend upon the Rician k factor and the modulation scheme with QPSK giving a superior performance to 16 QAM.
